Fold equity

Fold equity is the equity you have in a hand when your bet can get an opponent to fold. It is based on your opponent’s range, the board texture, and your perceived range and will carry from player to player. For example, a call station’s fold equity is usually almost zero, this is because their optimism and fear of being bluffed lead them to make light calls. On the flip side, some players have very high fold equity and are proud to fold their pocket kings the second the flop comes with an ace.
